About University of Portsmouth

The University of Portsmouth is on England's south coast, with its campus in the centre of the seaside city of Portsmouth, close to amenities and a short walk from the seafront: four miles of beach and Southsea Common are nearby. The city is walkable and bicycle-friendly, with a bus network that includes free University buses, a direct train to London, and major airports reachable by public transport within a few hours.

It has about 28,000 students, including 5,700 international students from over 150 countries, and more than 150 student-led groups and societies. Teaching holds a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (2023), combining academic and practical learning, with career and employability support available during study and for up to five years after graduation.

The university is in the middle of a £250 million campus development plan, which includes the Ravelin Sports Centre and planned teaching, lab and workshop buildings. Facilities already include a £5.2 million Centre for Creative and Immersive XR (eXtended Reality), simulated learning environments such as a replica courtroom and science labs, and a library open 24/7 during term time.
